  • Administering about 500g of dandelion roots twice daily may be beneficial in kidney stones as the roots are known to cleanse the kidneys well. 
  • Soak approx 50g of the horse gram in water overnight. In the morning, mash and drink it. Also, approx. 30 ml of the horse gram seeds decoction can be taken twice daily.
  • Drinking fresh pomegranate juice is said to be quite beneficial for those suffering from kidney stones.
Diet and Exercise for Kidney Stones Cure

Eating habits or diet plays an important role in curing and preventing diseases like stones! It is necessary to improve diet and substitute ordinary cooking fat with either Olive oil or Sunflower oil.  Intake of fruits like Lemons, Oranges and Grapefruit should be included in the diet. The acids content in the fruits help in dissolving the stone naturally. Yoghurt and Cottage Cheese are also good for such conditions. Fatty foods with high calorie content should be avoided. Drinking plenty of water on a regular basis and consuming juices and soups helps in cleaning up the liver system.

Exercise is important for treating stones, as physical inactivity is one of the main causes of indigestion and eventually result in the formation of stones. Yogasana are also suggested for treating gall bladder stones as these asanas help in toning up the liver and gall bladder. These asanas include Sarvangasana, Paschimottasanana, Shalabhasana, Dhanurasana & Bhujangasana. Breathing exercises such as kapalbhati, Ujjayi and Anulom viloma can also help in getting rid of the symptoms.

Fennel: A Perennial Herb!

  • Add about ½ tsp of powdered fennel seeds to the juice prepared from beet root & carrots. Having this drink beneficial in cases of Anemia. 
  • Dry roast about 100 g of fennel seeds, add sugar in equal proportions and powder. Administer a tsp of the mixture 3-4 times daily in cases of Diarrhea.
  • Boil about 2 tsp of fennel seeds in water. Let the mixture stand for 10 min. & strain. Add honey to taste and drink 2-3 cups everyday. This remedy is very effective for Nursing mother for increasing milk.
  • Soak about 2 tbsp of fennel seeds in a glass of water overnight and strain the water next morning. Add a pinch of black salt & sugar to taste. This drink is known to be beneficial in Heat stroke.
  • Eating a tsp of fennel seeds in betel leaf taken after meals, is effective as a Mouth Freshener.
  • Eating a tsp of fennel seeds after meals is known to improve Digestion.
  • Taking fennel seeds with fig is known to relieve Bronchitis & other associated problems.
  • Boil 2 tsp of fennel seeds in water & use it as a steam facial to cleanse & Rejuvenate Skin.
  • Mix equal amounts of fennel seeds, dry ginger, carom seeds, black cumin seeds & powder. Add salt to it & store in a air tight container. Administering about ½ tsp of the mixture before meals acts as an Appetizer.

  • An excellent poultice can be prepared by mixing a pinch of curcuma powder to a tsp of milk cream & 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Administration of the same would help ripen and heal blood boils without allowing them to become septic.
  • To treat dandruff, add to a bowl of curd, a tsp of lemon juice & rub on the scalp. Rinse hair after an hour.  Also, massaging the scalp with a few drops of lemon juice mixed in coconut oil treats dandruff well.
  • To get rid of acne, prepare a paste by adding a tsp of Lemon juice to a spoonful of fuller’s earth & sandal wood powder each. let it dry and wash off after 20 minutes.
  • For weight loss, add to a warm glass of water, a tsp of honey & lemon juice each. take this preparation early morning. 
  • Drinking lemon in hot water with a teaspoon of honey is also an effective remedy against colds.
  • To whiten teeth, rubbing a slice of lemon with a pinch of salt and baking soda helps attain the same.
  • To relieve indigestion and constipation, cut ginger into small pieces and dip it in a cup containing lemon juice. Add black salt and leave it for two hours. This preparation can be taken after meals to ease the problem.
  • Squeeze lemon in a glass of lukewarm water and add a pinch of black salt. Have it twice daily to improve bowel movement.
  • To treat dark lips, apply a mixture of coconut oil and lemon before going to bed.
  • Lemon can also be used as a natural hair conditioner. Squeeze half a lemon in water and use the same to rinse hair after shampoo.
  • For skin pigmentation, rubbing lemon peel over pigmented skin, such as ankle and knee, lightens the area.
  • Lemon juice has astringent properties and is also used as a gargle for throat problems
  • For the treatment of dehydration and diarrhea, lemon juice makes a good base for oral electrolyte solution.

Traditional Herbal Remedies for Acidity!


Treat Acidity with Herbs!
In conditions of acidity, there is an excess production of acids by the gastric glands of stomach into the lower esophagus. The major symptoms of the ailment are heartburn, gas formation & blazing pain in the stomach. This article incorporates some natural herbal remedies to treat acidity, that are not only effective they don’t have any side effects as well.
  • To cure acidity, roast a tsp of cumin seeds & carom each. Now boil the seeds in a cup of water till water reduces to half. Add sugar to taste. Strain and drink.
  • Mix equal amounts of powdered clove and cardamom & have a tsp of the same after meals.
  • For acidity, mix equal amounts of Harad with Indian gooseberry powder & store in an air-tight jar. Take a tbsp of the same after meals to get relief from acidity.
  • A mixture of carom & salt can be administered whenever acidity occurs.
  • Boil a tsp of cumin seeds in a liter of water, simmer for about 10 min. Have the same twice daily for a week.
  • Drink pomegranate and beetroot juice (1/2 cup) with a tbsp of honey. Take this empty stomach for a month.
  • Boil a tsp of aniseed in 100 ml water & leave it overnight. Strain  water & add a tsp of honey to it. Have it after meals to cure acidity.
Those suffering from acidity should avoid taking spicy and fried food, aerated drinks, vinegar, chutneys, pickles, chocolates, etc. Cut down on smoking and alcohol consumption. Eating vegetables like cucumber, spring onions, carrot, beans, pumpkin and drumsticks are known to be effective against acidity. Include foods like bananas, lemon, watermelon, jaggery, almonds and yogurt in your diet.

Ginger Tea provides Relief
during Coughs & Colds!
  • For throat infection, take 1/4th tsp of ginger juice with honey twice daily. 
  • In bronchitis, mix equal proportions of powdered ginger, black pepper and cloves & take ½ tsp of this mixture with honey twice everday.
  • For relief from swelling in any part of the body, mix ginger powder into sesame oil and massage over the area.
  • To get relief from gastritis, take 1/4th tsp each of ginger, carom seeds and black salt with warm water after meals.
  • For arthritis, pound and boil about half inch of fresh ginger in two cups of water. Strain and add a tsp castor oil to it. Drink the same before going to bed.
  • Sucking on a piece of ginger is effective in hiccups.
  • To treat cough & cold, take equal proportions of ginger powder with mulaithi mixed in honey and lick it to get relief.
  • In case of nausea & vomiting, mix equal amounts of ginger, basil and mint juice and have it.   
  • For weight lossdrinking ginger tea with black pepper powder is helpful in burning fat.
  • Another way to control weight is to prepare a paste by mixing one tsp of ginger, 1/2 tsp of guggal powder in a tsp of honey. This remedy is said to be useful in reducing weight.
